Food Pantry

The Flemington Food Pantry and the Phillipsburg Catholic Charities Food Pantry are two local agencies supported through the generosity of the parishioners of St Catherine's. Members of this ministry help by maintaining contact with these agencies, responding to their needs and transporting food from the church and local merchants to the pantries. Donations of non-perishable food items are always welcome and may be left in the marked containers in the Undercroft and at the Parish Center. In addition, drivers are always needed to deliver the food to the pantries.

Parish Picnic Committee

The Parish Picnic is held in September of each year. In order to make this a wonderful parish gathering, volunteers are needed to prepare flyers, create tickets and sign-up sheets, write letters for donations, organize raffle tickets, games and activities. Many are needed to set-up, clean-up, cook and direct traffic on the day.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Participants in the project are knitting or crocheting shawls, baptism blankets and other items as gifts for a special person in their own lives or to those in the greater community who are in need of a gift of love and compassion, created in God's spirit. The items are being created in a meditative and prayerful way, both individually and during organized circles, where we join in fellowship, prayer, creativity and learning. If you're an experienced knitter or crotchetier, or if you've always wanted to learn, or if you enjoy creating any type of hand-work, done in a meditative and prayerful way, please join in this Ministry.

Social Ministries

The Social Ministry team is dedicated to meeting the needs of the St. Catherine’s Parish community with compassion, warmth, and understanding. This group serves the sick, the homebound, the elderly, and those enduring hardship by matching the skills and talents of our volunteers with the needs of members of our church community. Services such as shopping, providing meals, visiting the homebound, and reaching out through phone calls and cards, are at the heart of this group and its mission to bring the love of Christ to those who need it most.

Veteran Military Apostolate

The Veteran Military Apostolate provides our parishioners with an opportunity to grow spiritually through charitable works, prayer, and guidance to all Veterans -- especially those wounded morally and spiritually by war. People of faith have a duty to recognize the service of our military personnel and their families who have made such great sacrifices on behalf of our nation.

Some Apostolate subcommittees are: Visitation— letting soldiers and Veterans know they are not alone; Communication— letter-writing, prayer chains to military and their families; Specialized Outreach— organizing collection of needed items to send overseas or to local shelters and VA hospitals; and Health & Welfare— participating in monthly outreach meetings, a place of trust and good listening.

Please consider helping out in this most worthwhile ministry and keep our military service members and veterans in prayer.
